US Senator Chris Murphy for developing ‘incredibly important’ relationship between the Pak and the US

WASHINGTON: Senator Chris Murphy, chairman of the Near East, South Asia, Central Asia and Counterterrorism Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, while stressing the importance of relations between Pakistan and the United States, said that the relationship between Pakistan and the United States had stood the test of time. “As in any bilateral relationship, there are ups and downs, but this one [Pak-US relations] has stood the test of time and I look forward to continuing to develop it for the next 75 years.

Ambassador Masood welcomed Senator Murphy’s strong statement. He said Senator Murphy was a true friend of Pakistan on the Hill and an advocate for closer US-Pakistan ties. Senator Murphy, he said, rightly pointed out that Pakistan-US relations have stood the test of time and become resilient. This relationship, Ambassador Masood said, will rebound with economic content at the center.

In his special message for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-US diplomatic relations and the 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence, Senator Murphy said Pakistan-US relations were “incredibly important”. “Obviously, this is as important a relationship as the one that exists for us in the United States Senate.”

Highlighting the contributions of the United States to the socio-economic development of Pakistan, Senator Murphy said that “we have devoted significant resources through USAID projects to strengthen Pakistani democracy, to work together on security projects common”.
